Recent Happenings

Taylor had her 2nd "Happy Day" on 5/7. We had a small party in the park with a few close friends. The theme was Dora, of course. She started preschool in June. I was a little nervous at first because of her food allergies and a room full of toddlers at snack time was pretty unnerving. Unfortunately because of my job, I often have lunch meetings and so I'm not able to visit her at lunch, but she has not had any reactions and I provide all of her food. The preschool is from 6wks through kindergarten & they provide snack & lunch to the other kids. I'm told by her teachers that she never seems to care that she doesn't eat what the other kids are eating. It's been this way for so long that she's used to it. When I asked her teacher how she was doing with the other kids and in general, she said what every social worker mom would want to hear "She's a really well adjusted kid". She loves preschool. She especially loves "swim day" and talks about her friends all the time.

We went to Canada for my mom & Ian's wedding in July. We had a really nice visit. As usual there is just too many people to see & not enough time. Sorry we missed out on getting together with many of you. The wedding was very simple, relaxed & comfortable, just how mom & Ian wanted it. Of course they had hoped it wouldn't rain but a last minute downpour had everyone racing inside for cover, minutes before the ceremony. So we just enjoyed a simple ceremony inside. The rain stopped afterward & allowed for the release of the butterflies. Taylor still talks about our visit. Every weekend when she wakes up & asks to go to preschool I say: "No, today's Saturday, we're not going to preschool, but you know what we're going to do today?" Without hesitiating she says" "Go to Grammie's house". We also enjoyed several meals out with my Dad during our visit. The first time we went out to eat after we got back to California, on the way to dinner, Taylor said "We're going out for dinner with Grandpa Art". She also talks about the animals we saw at the zoo with Grandpa Art, too. Here are some pics from our visit. I can't post them all but these are a few of my favorites:

My mom & Ian the day after the wedding.
My mom has this thing about facing each other when taking photos.
We always bug her about it, but they actually turn out pretty good.

Our precious girl. That face is just SO sweet!

My niece Arianna

Taylor licking the bowl for the first time.
I've learned to bake since we realized her food allergies.
This was the first time I made frosting, so she could eat cupcakes at the wedding.
Of course she had a reaction from something she ate the night before so I didn't
give her the cupcakes because her tummy was still unsettled.

Taylor loved spending time on Grammie & Grandads deck,
looking at the fish and playing in the blue sand...
