I must admit, I've never really been into Halloween. But, now that we've got a little princess to dress up. it's more fun!
So, she's carved a pumpkin at preschool today, and they've got a big day tomorrow. A carnival, and costume parade and of course lots of candy and treats. My plan is to send her with some safe candy (skittles, powdered "Smarties" these are NOT the chocolate cover candies that are sold in Canada, they are what I used to call Rockets - they kind of look like pills and come in a roll), sweet tarts and Twizzler licorice. All of these candies are safe for her allergies. She's never actually eaten them before so I'm not looking forward to the sugar high but at least she won't feel left out of the treats at preschool. We decided not to go trick-or-treating tomorrow night, so instead of getting candy from other houses I put together a special Halloween basket for her with her safe candy and some Halloween goodies. I think her favorite thing will be the Elmo basket! She hasn't seen her goodies, yet. We're saving them for tomorrow. She knows what's going on though, as I was putting her to bed tonight she said "It's going to be Halloween! MY Halloween!".
