Daddy, Who Is That?

Another delightful, hysterical talk with Taylor...

I was sorting through some photos today for a scrapbooking project I have planned and I came across this photo:

Lovely pic, eh?! It was taken circa 1997 when John and I were dating. Notice the Sinead haircut? Yeah, that's what John calls it, the Sinead Era. Anyway, I went from having almost waist-length hair to getting my hair cut as short as it is in this pic. Know what I was thinking? I was in a 2 yr relationship with a guy I thought I was going to marry and then on an innocent trip to California to visit a friend, I met the real man of my dreams. So, I headed home, broke up with the other guy had a mini when does my life begin and who is it going to be with? crisis and chopped all my hair off. Craziness! OK, I didn't cut it myself, but still...

So, anyway, as I was saying, I pulled out this pic today and showed it to John, with an "Oh my God..." Then he set it aside on his desk. Here's where the laughter starts:

T: (Takes the picture, and looks at it) Daddy, this is you! Daddy, this is you!
J: (Looks away from his computer and glances at the photo) Yes, sweetie, that's me.
T: (Looks back at the photo again) But who is that? (pointing to me!)
J: That's Mommy.
T: (Closely examines the photo) No, that's not Mommy. I don't know her name.
J: Yes, that's Mommy.
Laughter ensues between John and I.
T: No, it's not. I don't know her name.
D: Yes, Taylor that's me.
T: (Adamant that the woman in the photo is NOT her mother) No, that's not you. Here, I'll get another picture.
D: (on the floor laughing to the point of tears)
J: (Also laughing so hard he almost falls off his chair)
T: (quickly returns with a more recent photo) Mommy, this is you. See, this is you (pointing to me in the picture). And this is Daddy and that's Baby Taylor. That is not you (pointing to the pic of me with short hair).
J: Yes, Taylor. That's Mommy a long, long time ago before you were even born.

We were laughing so hard, I don't even know how the conversation ended. But about an hour later John wanted to scan the photo so I could post it and, from the kitchen, I overheard...

J: Taylor, you know the picture of Daddy with the woman you said you didn't know, do you know where that picture is?
T: It's right there. But I don't know her name.
