We hate reflux...

So, last Saturday we finally trialed soy with Taylor. She had barely had any soy when we revamped her diet once we realized she had food allergies a year ago. And, when it became more & more clear that she had MPI (Milk Protein Intolerance), I became more and more hesitant to trial soy. 50% of kids with MPI also have Soy Protein Intolerance. And since we live in the land of Protein Intolerance rather than the land of traditional IgE mediated allergies, there is now way to know if she will react to a food unless we give it to her. At our last allergist's visit we did the skin prick test & the blood test to rule out a traditional allergy to soy and the doc gave us the go ahead to trial it.

So, on Saturday at 8:00, I gave her an ounce of soy milk. Her reactions are typically delayed and when we introduced cow's milk at 1 yr, she had several bottles over several days before she had a reaction. So, I was kind of expecting the same thing. Well, she said a few times during the day that her tummy hurt. Then at 8:30 about 12 hrs after she had the soy milk, she woke up crying in pain, saying her tummy hurt, and began dry heaving in her crib.

So, we are now convinced that she has MSPI (Milk, Soy Protein Intolerance). She had no signs of a tummy bug. So, since then her reflux has been out of control. She's been waking up in pain at night a few times this week, her meds are no longer working. I called the GI and talked to the nurse. Doc ended up telling us to d/c the Reglan and prescribed some Levison drops for her inconsolable moments. that resulted in a weekend with worse reflux.

I called again today at 9am and again at 2 and am still waiting for a call back....

We hate reflux.

yep. we hate reflux too. i am really thinking that makayla's is bothering her, even though she's not spitting up; she's been SO whiny and wanting to nurse every 30-45 minutes all day long, and more frequent night waking...ugh.
