So, I went to the dollar store after work today to pick up some prizes for Taylor to use in our potty training program. My plan is to make a chart and add a sticker to the chart for each pee and then have another section for poops which also get 1 sticker each. 5 stickers = 1 prize. We haven't showed her what I got, yet, because John is going to draw a graph for the chart in his fancy computerized drawing software - being married to a designer definitely helps in the arts & crasfts department. So, I got all kinds of goodies for her that I know she will love. Winnie-the-Pooh figurines, 2 puzzles, play-doh, 4 boxes of crayons, a cool ball, a glow in the dark fairy wand, a kaleidoscope, and a bug kit (sooo excited about that because we can use it when we go hiking!). I got all of those goodies, along with some Dora stickers for the chart, for less than $15.00. I know, some of my crunchier friends are cringing because I'm contributing to the child labor in China. I'm sorry, I just have to put that guilt aside. If we were rich in the way of money, I would gladly boycott the dollar store. If I were a stay at home mom, I would happily make homemade toys for Taylor, like the ones on one of my new favorite blogs www.ChasingCheerios.blogspot.com. I don't know that mom personally, but if I did, we'd definitely be friends. But, the reality is, that currently I work full-time and we are not rich in the way of money. So, I must be frugal and my plan for being frugal includes shopping at the dollar store. So, for now, I love The Dollar Store.
